Plant Raising Panels

For Seeds and Cuttings

Give your seeds and cuttings a helping hand by using a plant raising panel. Our panels are manufactured from rigid laminated board, with heating cables running internally. They can be used under seed trays, pots, planters, and virtually anywhere where bottom heat is beneficial.

With a heat raising panel, the soil temperature stays at the optimum soil temperature of approx. 24C. When outside temperatures exceed 20C, the panels can be switched on and off with a timer or thermostat (for thermostats, see below). The panels come with a 3-pin plug for mains connection. They can be ganged together in glasshouses or sheds, or used in conjunction with a cold frame.

Heating cables

If you want to make your own heating bed we can supply heating cables. Generally you need a minimum of 100 watts per square metre of heating area. If misting or in a cold area increase this by 50%. These cables work directly off 230volts and are earth screened on the outside for electrical safety. As with all electrical devices we advise using an RCD (Residual current detector).
If the cable wattage does not quite fot your table dimensions go for a larger cable as the thermostat will control the temperature. All cables are designed to be directly wired into our thermostats.
